How Can I Help?
Have you often thought you’d like to help out but don’t know where
you can assist
There are many ways in which one can help with the running of
our church and the weekly services of worship:
- Reading a lesson during the service – speak to Pearly
- Leading the prayers and intercessions – speak to Cheryl
- Assisting at communion (this involves training & permission
from the Bishop) – speak to Michelle
- Assisting with Young Church (this involves safeguarding
training ) – speak to Petrina & Junko
- Coffee preparation – speak to Elaine & Christine
- Taking the offertory during the service – speak to Elaine
- Church cleaning (every other month) – speak to Elaine
Should you feel unable to commit in advance, there is still plenty
to do at each service. Don’t feel you need to be asked.
- Placing our sandwich board outside the church before the
service. Bringing it back inside the porch afterward
- Handing out hymn books & service inserts as the
congregation arrives
- Setting up & putting away the notice board
- Putting out the blue visitor’s book
- Checking that the offertory baskets are ready (kept in the
vestry
- Preparing or clearing up the Kid's Corner at the back
of the church
- Turning off the amplifier & putting away the microphones
after the service
- Helping with the washing up after coffee time
- Vacuuming after the coffee time (as necessary)
- Checking that all windows are shut after the service
- Checking that all lights are turned off before the church is
locked up
